Zedu Weekly Wrap – 28 April 2023
What motivates you to learn ultrasound?

Is it the techno-wizardry that appeals to your inner nerd? Is it a desire to help you and your patients manage a health situation together? Or has someone inspired you through their enthusiasm and desire to promote better/faster outcomes?
To some degree we think every one of these aspects combine to drive the desire to learn ultrasound. And that’s why learning ultrasound (or POCUS) brings so many people from such varied backgrounds together. When you’re learning the silos disappear – after all, an ultrasound learner is an ultrasound learner regardless of specialty, age or seniority. There’s a magic when people get here and an energy that we’d love to bottle for other things.
Another magic aspect is the amount of free, high quality resources that are delivered week in, week out. Highlights this week include a piece on ‘Unravelling the skillset of point-of-care ultrasound: a systematic review’ from Tessa Mulder (an issue dear to our hearts) in @WINFOCUS, a piece by Steven Chen providing an overview of the VExUS score (@EMSaintJohn) and another high quality podcast from @PratsEM on US guided trigger point injections. And don’t miss the latest edition of the POCUS Journal (@POCUSJournal). This and more below – plenty to keep you busy over the weekend.
PLUS – don’t forget to tune in to May’s Coaching Corner – one to get your baby ultrasound Jedi skills going (details below).
As for us – we’re tuning out now. See you next week…
Suean and Mike
P.S. – we’re getting ready for the May Coaching Corner coming to you live and free on Star Wars Day – channeling our inner Sith. Suean will be talking tips and tricks for imaging twins (Luke and Leia?) that will make your life simpler. In the meantime, the back catalogue is available on demand on the Coaching Corner Page of the website – upskill at your leisure.
Get the most out of your teaching moments – join our TRain the UltraSound Trainer (TRUST) course This isn’t a course on how to perform an ultrasound examination or use the technology – it’s designed to give you the teaching tools you’ll need to teach ultrasound on the run. In the words of a previous participant – it’s meta!
